Mexican authorities find 133 migrants crammed into a truck

The National Migration Institute of Mexico identified 133 Central American migrants who were in the refrigerated box of a tractor-trailer and who were transported in an overcrowded situation along the Río Verde highway in the state of San Luis Potosí, reported this Tuesday in a statement .

The authorities indicated that 127 are from Guatemala, 4 from Nicaragua and 2 from Honduras, "who could not verify their regular stay in national territory."

The INM detailed that of the Guatemalan people, 35 are women and 73 are adult men, 15 minors traveling unaccompanied and another 4 people from the same family nucleus. Of the 4 Nicaraguans, all belong to the same family nucleus, as do the 2 Hondurans.

"In accordance with and safeguarding their rights, the persons of legal age were taken to the INM offices to begin the migration process that defines their legal situation in Mexico; meanwhile, the foreign family nuclei remained under the tutelage of the System for Integral Development. of the Family (DIF) in the entity", indicated the authorities.
